Film and Photography Permission Procedure

For professional filming and still photography at Washington Place, please complete the following:

Submit Request to Washington Place

  1. Submit the Events and Filming Request form online.
  2. Once notified by the Director of Washington Place, contact the Hawaiʻi Film Office (who oversees filming on all State property). Submit to them the necessary Film Permit Application, a minimum of five (5) working days prior to the first prep/shoot day and required insurance (note: Productions are required to carry $1,000,000 liability insurance coverage with $2,000,000 in the aggregate, Auto $1,000,000 bodily injury per person, $1,000,000 bodily injury per accident, and $1,000,000 in property damage per accident). The State of Hawaiʻi will need to be named as an additional insured in the policy. Please see required wording.

  1. After approval from the Hawaiʻi Film Office (HFO), please confirm and coordinate the time and date of your photo shoot or filming with the Director of Washington Place. If you will be shooting in the museum galleries, an escort will be scheduled to accompany
  2. Adhere to HFO COVID-19 industry guidelines.
